Spiritual Combat: An Introduction
When you curse the wicked, do it in secret. The instructions are in Matthew 6:6 (ESV).
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. Matthew 6:6 (ESV)
The passage instructs you to go to Father God in secret. The Holy Spirit is your helper and advocate, and only the Holy Spirit can teach you how to use the sword of the Spirit.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and will bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you. John 14:26 (ESV)
The command 'wake up' comprises the first two words in Apocalypse 3:2.
Wake up and strengthen what remains, which was about to die; for I have found your deeds incomplete in the sight of My God. Apocalypse 3:2 (BSB)
Anyone who claims to be 'anti-woke' or 'anti-wokeness' speaks in direct opposition to the sword of the Spirit. Only charlatans and unbelievers say such things.
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 (NLT)
Do not be deceived. The name of the devil is Belial. He and his children are the true enemies of all believers.
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 (NIV)
Anyone who claims to be 'anti-woke' or 'anti-wokeness' is an unbeliever. All unbelievers are self-condemned.
After the first and second admonition, reject a man who is teaching heresy, Knowing that such a person has been subverted and is sinning, being condemned by his own words. Titus 3:10-11 (AFV)
Regardless of what false teachers or false prophets tell you: the Holy Spirit will never tell you to break any of the Ten Commandments.
If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 1 John 2:4 (NLT)
Only those controlled by their flesh say things that are in direct opposition to the sword of the Spirit, but those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.
Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:5-8 (BSB)
The opinions of charlatans are worthless, and cursing the wicked isn't a community endeavor. The instructions found in Romans 12:2 (ESV) will protect you from unbelievers.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 (ESV)
When you are ready, feel free to test your personal connection to the Holy Spirit. Let no one interfere, and remember: Only the Holy Spirit can teach you how to use the sword of the Spirit.
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:16-17 (ESV)
Amen.
